Greeneville, TN – Lincoln Memorial men's soccer draws to the Tusculum Pioneers 1-1 Saturday evening.
The first half was a very quiet 45-minute battle, with limited shots from both sides as
Enrique Martin tallied the only shot of the half for the Railsplitters, leaving the score 0-0 at halftime.
Tusculum took an early shot in the 48
th minute, but after that there was not much action for the next 20 minutes until the Pioneers took another shot in the 61
st minute.
The Railsplitters took their first shot of the second half in the 66
th minute by
Christopher Ramos.
After that, possession shifted but neither team was able to score, until
Lasse Kidde Amstrup drew a foul in the penalty box in the 86
th minute, giving Martin a chance to put the ball in the back of the net, and he capitalized on it to give LMU the 1-0 lead with four minutes left in the match.
With Tusculum's Corral scoring off a corner kick in the 88
th minute, the match ends in a 1-1 draw.
Martin scored the lone goal for LMU and led the team with two shots.
Daniel Benedek Miklosi played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded two saves.
As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded only three shots on the evening, with all three being on goal, along with two saves and six corner kicks.
With the draw, Lincoln Memorial improves to 3-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 conference record, while Tusculum drops to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.
The team will have almost a week off as their next match is on Tuesday, September 29
th at home against the University of Montevallo at 3:00 pm.
