LMU-Brazil Partnership
The Training
Coach Helio D'Anna uses the Brazil trip as preseason for his teamĀ (once every four years as allowed by the NCAA). During the trip, the RailsplittersĀ have the opportunity to train at various sites with various clubs. They also have opportunities to observe professional practices and to interact with professional players and coaches.
The Games
One of the highlights of these trips is the opportunity to scrimmage various youth amateur teams affiliated with the academy systems of the professional clubs in Brazil. Without a doubt, these are extremely challenging matches that prepare LMU for the tough season ahead.
The Extras
Of course during the trip the players have also opportunities to do site seeing, shopping, and activities to experience the local culture (including the world famous Brazilian cuisine). As importantly, the trip provides a great team bounding opportunity creating the right team chemistry that is so important in athletics.
Our next trip will be in 2020Ā and efforts to fundraise for the trip have started. To donate, please go to the following link:http://alumni.lmunet.edu/soccer
