The University recognizes that the number of participants on intercollegiate teams satisfies only one of 13 criteria regarding gender equity. It is in the best interest of the NCAA and its institutions to promote equal opportunities for all student-athletes and staff. Equity is a commitment and a reality where fair distribution of overall athletics opportunities and resources are available to women and men and where no student-athlete, coach, or athletics administrator is discriminated against in any way in the Department on the basis of gender. As part of its commitment to maintaining gender equity, the Department developed the Gender Equity Committee in 2005 for the purpose of monitoring all programs. The Gender Equity Committee develops and regularly updates a strategic plan aimed at addressing potential inequities while taking a proactive approach.

DIVERSITY EQUITY

Lincoln Memorial University and the Department of Athletics is committed to providing equitable opportunities for the diverse student-athlete population. The Department developed the Diversity Equity Committee in 2005 for the purpose of monitoring all programs and creating a strategic plan to assess progress. The plan provides guidelines for accommodating the evolving standards of LMU and the Department in the area of diversity and aims to maintain diversity equity and address potential identified inequities.
