Marcel Barwanietz joins the Lincoln Memorial staff for his first season as a graduate assistant coach this fall. Barwanietz, who recently earned his degree in Business from LMU, was the starting goalkeeper for the Railsplitters for the past three seasons. During that time, the Berlin, Germany native accumulated a 1.15 goals against average in 52 appearances. He also scored two penalty kick goals during his senior season.

Among his laundry list of accomplishment, Barwanietz holds the program’s single-season record for goals against average with 0.8 in 2012.

Barwanietz was recognized as the program’s Rookie of the Year in 2012, earned an All-District Scholar nod, was twice named to the All-SAC squad (2013 and 2014) and received the Defensive MVP award. He also served as a team co-captain during two of his three seasons in the Blue and Gray.

Prior to his arrival at LMU, Barwanietz was a standout at Coffeyville Community College.

Barwanietz, who will pursue an MBA during his stint as the program’s graduate assistant, will be in charge of the goalkeepers among a variety of additional duties.
