Melanie (Mel) enters her second year of athletic training, and her first as an assistant athletic trainer at LMU, working primarily with the women's volleyball and men's lacrosse teams.Â

Originally from Maryland, Mel attended Frostburg State University, where she was one of 8 pioneer students to graduate from the school's new combined EXSS/MSAT program to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science 2021, and a Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2023. While a student at Frostburg, Mel worked with a variety of different sports including their baseball, swimming, field hockey, and men's lacrosse teams. During her final year at Frostburg, Mel worked as a graduate assistant for the athletic training department, where she helped gather information as it pertained to a new research study being conducted on the effectiveness of implementing corrective exercise programs to rural volunteer firefighters in improving their safety and resiliency in the workplace. She also had the opportunity to shadow at Potomac State College in Keyser, WV, where she worked with their basketball, baseball, and softball teams in the spring.Â
