Coach John Cash enters his second season as head coach of the LMU women's volleyball program in 2025. In his debut season in 2024, the team posted a 17-9 overall record, highlighted by a milestone victory over Wingate—their first since 2019—and a return to the SAC Tournament for the first time in five years. Under his leadership, the program also celebrated individual accomplishments including two All-SAC selections, one AVCA Division II Southeast Region Honorable Mention, one AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, and a SAC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Prior to taking over the women’s program, Cash was the head coach for the men’s volleyball program. From 2017 to 2023, he led the Railsplitters to a 100-43 (.699) record and five consecutive Independent Volleyball Association (IVA) tournament championships. His leadership earned him three straight IVA Coach of the Year honors, and his 100th career win came in a decisive 3-0 sweep of Queens University in the 2023 IVA Conference Championship Finals.

Under his guidance, the men's program enjoyed remarkable success, including a dominant 57-3 (.950) home record, the nation’s longest DI/II winning streak at 19 matches, and the longest home winning streak at 26. LMU consistently ranked in the DI/II national top 10 in multiple statistical categories such as opponent hitting percentage, blocks per set, and aces per set.

In 2022, the men's team achieved the first 20-win season in program history, with numerous players earning All-Independent Team recognition. Off the court, Coach Cash emphasized academic excellence, producing Academic All-Americans and securing AVCA Team Academic Awards.
