Redshirt-senior guard Luquon Choice (Laurens, S.C.) has been selected as the Holiday Tire Railsplitter of the Week for January 3, it was announced on Tuesday.

Choice, who is the first member of the men's basketball team to win the Railsplitter of the Week award since Chris Perry did so on November 15, led the Railsplitters (9-3) to a 74-60 win over the No. 5 Bellarmine Knights on New Year's Eve at Tex Turner Arena.

The Laurens, S.C. native led all players in that contest with 18 points, connecting on seven of his 14 shot attempts while adding five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Choice scored nine points in both halves to help Lincoln Memorial avenge a 14-point loss at Bellarmine last season.

Through 12 appearances this season, Choice is averaging 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game on 49 percent shooting, including a red-hot 47.4 percent mark from three. He ranks third in the South Atlantic Conference in minutes per game with 34.4 and leads the league with 45 made three-pointers.

Choice needs just nine three-pointers to match Carson-Newman's Ish Sanders for the SAC career record for three-pointers of 340.

The Railsplitters are back in action on Wednesday at 8 p.m. when they host the Mars Hill Lions in SAC action. Lincoln Memorial travels to Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday to face the No. 3 Queens Royals at 4 p.m.

Holiday Tire - the official title sponsor of the Railsplitter of the Week award - is located off of Highway 58 in Cumberland Gap, Tenn., just two miles away from the LMU campus.
