HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Lady Railsplitters (15-10, 11-6 SAC) defeated Brevard (10-14, 4-13 SAC) for the 19th straight time Saturday at Mary Mars Gymnasium, topping the visiting Tornados in four sets (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-16) in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action.

Lincoln Memorial completed the season sweep of the Tornados, building on top of a 3-0 win from back on September 27, and improved to 19-0 in the all-time series against Brevard. The Lady Railsplitters have ripped off 19 consecutive wins since first meeting the Tornados during the 2000 campaign.

The Lady Railsplitters finished with a cumulative .226 attack percentage, registering 52 kills and 17 errors on 155 total attempts. Lincoln Memorial added 11 block assists and six service aces to the stat ledger.

Freshman outside hitter
Kiera Holland (Columbia, S.C.) and junior middle blocker
Jazzy Oates (Franklin, Tenn.) led the Lady Railsplitter attack, matching a game-high mark with 11 kills apiece. Holland also accounted for 22 digs and two block assists, while Oates compiled her 11 kills on a .276 attack percentage. Graduate student
MaRanda Boddie (Springfield, Ohio) contributed nine kills on a .467 attacking clip to go alongside three block assists. Sophomore
Kara Solek (Denver, N.C.) collected eight kills on only 17 attempts for a .412 clip. Tallying her 15th double-double of the season, sophomore setter
Abby Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) amassed 32 assists and 11 digs. Junior libero
Casey Mense (Littleton, Colo.) led the Lady Railsplitters with 23 digs, while
Bristol Snider (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and
Kendra Gephart (Morrow, Ohio) combined for 28 scoops.

The Lady Railsplitters held a narrow 10-9 advantage in set one before rolling off a 14-1 run to force set point. After allowing a brief 5-0 Brevard run, Holland ended the frame with a kill. Lincoln Memorial held sway at 13-9 in the second stanza, but the Tornados countered with a 5-0 run, paced by three LMU attack errors and back-to-back service aces, to take a 14-13 lead. The Lady Railsplitters rallied back to take a 19-18 lead, but the Tornados closed on a 7-2 run to even the match at 1-1.

Lincoln Memorial regained the momentum in set three, using a 5-1 run at the midway point to build a 15-11 lead. The Tornados cut the deficit back to 17-16 with an LMU service miscue, but the Lady Railsplitters punched back with a 4-0 run. A Brevard attack error ended the Lady Railsplitters' 25-21 triumph. It was all Lady Railsplitters in what proved to be the decisive fourth set as Lincoln Memorial built an 18-5 advantage before settling for a 25-16 win. LMU hit .333 in the final frame while the Tornados were limited to a .119 clip.

Whitney DeMoss paced the Tornados with 10 kills, while Rachel Ruble (8), Gharachorloo (7) and Kindle Kirkham (7) also factored into the attack. Erin Barr recorded 33 assists and 10 digs, while Aleksandra Vrvilo led all players in the match with 25 digs.

The Lady Railsplitters return to action on Friday, October 31, traveling to Wingate, N.C. and Cuddy Arena for a South Atlantic Conference clash with the Wingate Bulldogs. First serve in that match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
