HICKORY, N.C. -- The sixth-seeded Lady Railsplitters (16-15) were ousted from the South Atlantic Conference Championship with a quarterfinal round, straight-set loss to the three-seeded Anderson Trojans (24-7) on Friday evening at Lenoir-Rhyne University's Shuford Memorial Gymnasium in Hickory, N.C. Lincoln Memorial, who fell by set scores of 15-25, 20-25 and 13-25, concludes its season at 16-15 overall, while Anderson moves on the semifinal round to square off against two-seeded Carson-Newman on Saturday night.
Â
Just six days after the Lady Railsplitters allowed the Trojans to amass a .394 attack percentage in a straight-set loss at Mary Mars Gym to wrap up the regular season, Anderson compiled a gaudy .411 hitting clip to pace another 3-0 victory. That was the highest attacking mark the Lady Railsplitters' have allowed since West Alabama hit .450 way back on October 13, 2007.
Â
The Trojans collected 46 kills with only two errors on 107 total attempts, while the Lady Railsplitters' offense sputtered with 36 terminations and 23 miscues for a .108 effort. After surpassing the .200 attacking threshold in nine of its 12 matches heading into the final week of the regular season, Lincoln Memorial failed to hit at a better than .150 rate in any of its last four outings.

Freshman outside hitter
Kiera Holland (Columbia, S.C.) and graduate student
MaRanda Boddie (Springfield, Ohio) were bright spots in the LMU attack, as Holland accounted for a team-leading 13 kills on a .476 attack percentage, while Boddie racked up eight put aways on only 14 swings. No other Lady Railsplitter finished with more than four kills in the match as
Allison Beavers (Tomball, Texas) reached that mark while leading the team with 23 attempts. Sophomore setter
Abby Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) notched 28 assists and nine digs, while her classmate
Bristol Snider (Chattanooga, Tenn.) paced the Lady Railsplitters with 10 digs.
Â
Anderson's senior duo of Shannon Gillespie and Hailey Pittman was once again the story as those two combined for 25 kills in the victory. Gillespie matched Holland's game-high mark with 13 kills to go alongside nine digs. Meanwhile, South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year Hailey Pittman posted 12 kills on a .440 attack percentage. Those two were backed by Marissa Miller, who contributed 11 kills on a mere 17 attempts. Priscilla Irizarry led all players in the match with 41 assists, which she paired alongside nine digs. Kelley Lacey and Alix Hooker led Anderson with 10 digs apiece.
Â
The Trojans logged a 10-1 blocking advantage in the match, while the Lady Railsplitters were the beneficiaries of five Anderson service errors.
Â
The Lady Railsplitters ended the season on a four-match losing streak, the first such downturn for the program since the 2007 campaign.
