GREENEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Lady Railsplitters (4-4) moved to .500 for the first time in the early portion of the 2014 campaign, sweeping a pair of matches over the Flagler Saints (4-4) and King Tornado (5-5) on Saturday in the final day of the Pioneer Volleyball Classic, hosted by the Tusculum Pioneers in Greeneville, Tenn. Lincoln Memorial toppled Flagler 18-25, 25-20, 25-19 and 25-22 before rallying from two sets down to defeat King, 23-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-16 and 15-9.

The Lady Railsplitters hit .179 in Saturday morning's tilt against the Saints, producing 40 kills on 123 attempts, while tallying seven service aces and matching a season-high with 14 blocks assists. Flagler, meanwhile, finished with a .162 clip and 52 kills, offset by 28 attacking misfires.

With the win over the Saints, the Lady Railsplitters improve to 2-0 in the all-time series against the 2009 and 2011 NCAA Division II Southeast Region champ. Lincoln Memorial knocked off Flagler in straight sets in Savannah, Ga. during the first weekend of the 2013 campaign.

Sophomore right side
Brooke Fleeman (Nashville, Tenn.) led the Lady Railsplitters in kills for the second time in three matches, posting nine kills on a .185 attacking percentage. She added three digs and three block assists to her stat ledger. Both
MaRanda Boddie (Springfield, Ohio) and
Allison Beavers (Tomball, Texas) contributed seven kills apiece. Boddie hit at a .538 clip, accounting for her seven put aways on only 13 attempts. Junior
Jazzy Oates (Franklin, Tenn.) filled out the stat sheet with six kills, three service aces, two digs and three block assists. Sophomore
Kara Solek (Denver, N.C.) was effective with six kills on 19 attempts.

Sophomore setter
Abby Cash (New Carlisle, Ohio) nearly recorded her third-straight double-double, instead settling for 31 kills and seven digs. Junior
Casey Mense (Littleton, Colo.) led the Lady Railsplitters with 12 digs, while senior
Monica McConnaughey (Federal Way, Wash.) accumulated a career-best 11 scoops.

Genel Sturgeon (13 kills, 15 digs), Sara Davis (13 kills, four block assists), Megan Hooks (nine kills, 11 digs), Amelia Morgan (41 assists) and Ashley Lechleidner (12 digs) led the Saints in the Saturday morning bout.

In Saturday afternoon's match versus the Tornado, the Lady Railsplitters logged the most productive outing of the season, attacking at a season-best .288 clip to record a season-high 68 total kills. King, meanwhile, hit .195 with 68 kills and 29 costly miscues. The Lady Railsplitters hit better than .350 in three of the five sets, punching .417, .390 and .429 efforts in the second, fourth and fifth frames.

The Lady Railsplitters bounced back from a two-set hole to win for the first time since accomplishing that feat in the second-to-last game of 2013, a five-set triumph over Brevard.

It was a career outing for a number of LMU's key players. Freshman
Kiera Holland (Columbia, S.C.) posted a career-high 22 kills to go along with 10 digs, while Fleeman matched her previous career best with 17 kills on a .531 attack percentage. Solek followed up her six-kill outing in Saturday's morning match by tallying a career-high 10 kills against the Tornado. Boddie pitched in nine kills and a pair of block assists.

Cash was in the middle of nearly all of that production as the New Carlisle, Ohio native recorded a career-high 57 assists while chipping in 13 scoops. Mense tallied a season-high 25 digs to lead the Lady Railsplitters defensively.
Kendra Gephart (Morrow, Ohio) aided that effort with 17 digs.

The Tornado were led by Summer Kremer (24 kills, 13 digs), Grace Underwood (10 kills), Olivia Underwood (53 assists, 15 digs), and Payton Tipton (16 digs).

The Lady Railsplitters return to action on Tuesday, September 16 in the South Atlantic Conference and home opener, welcoming the Mars Hill Lions to Mary Mars Gymnasium. First serve in that contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Harrogate, Tenn.
