WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The Lincoln Memorial University men's and women's tennis programs wrapped up the fall schedule on Saturday at the University of Cumberlands Fall Invitational in Williamsburg, Ky. The Railsplitters competed against Bellarmine, Union (Ky.) and Cumberlands in the men's tournament, while the Lady Railsplitters went head-to-head exclusively against Cumberlands on the women's side.

The Railsplitters won the "championship" in five of the six singles flights and one of the two doubles flights.

In singles action, No. 2 seed
Pepe Batalla (Barcelona, Spain) defeated Cumberlands's Kenny Wilson 6-3, 6-4 in the first round before topping Union's Borna Bartolovic 6-2, 6-3 in the final.
Joshua Peress (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) dispatched of both Bellarmine's Alex Swords (6-3, 6-4) and Cumberlands's Daniel Fraser (6-1, 6-2) in straight sets to win the No. 3 championship.
David Segarra won a couple of tough matches to clinch the win at the No. 4 seed, beating Union's Tiago Gil 3-6, 6-3, 12-7 before outlasting Bellarmine's Nathan Walmoth 6-3, 7-5.

Moritz Hoerner and
Guilherme Rocha (Victoria, Brazil) secured the win at No. 5 and No. 6 to complete the Railsplitters' dominant singles showing. Hoerner beat Union's Egil Brudvik 7-5, 6-1 in his No. 5 flight final, while Rocha rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph in the sixth seed championship.

Joshua Coulthard (Staindrop, England) and Segarra came up just a bit short against Bellarmine's tandem of Jose Legarraeta and Zachary Kuo in the final of first-flight doubles action, but Peress and Batalla brought home the championship at No. 2 doubles with a 9-7 victory over Daniel Butcher and Kenny Wilson from Cumberlands.

On the women's side, the Lady Railsplitters cruised in a 7-2 win over Cumberlands, winning five of the six singles matches and two the three doubles flights.

Marta Pinol rolled in a 6-2, 6-3 win over Chanel Williams at the No. 2 flight, while
Javiera Gonzalez notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sydni Grimes at the third flight.
Priscilla Bulandres (Markham, Ontario, Canada) only lost two games in route to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kaylyn Collette at No. 4, while
Roksolana Prudyvus (Lviv, Ukraine) had her hands full against Marie Bozeman in a 7-5, 7-6 victory in the fifth flight.
Angelica Solano (Bogota, Columbia) rolled through Hanna Alimajstorovic 6-1, 6-2 in the sixth flight.

The Patriots' only singles win came at the top flight, where Isabella Dale handed
Elena Vasilyeva (Yaroslavl, Russia) a 6-3, 6-2 loss.

The Lady Railsplitters won at No. 1 and 3 doubles. Vasilyeva paired with Pinol for an 8-6 win at the top flight, while Prudyvus and Solano notched an 8-3 win at the third flight.

The LMU tennis teams will now begin preparation for the spring schedule, which begins on February 6 with home matches against Cumberlands.
