Lincoln Memorial announces game day promotions for 2015-16 basketball slate

HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Lincoln Memorial University athletics department has released the promotional schedule for the upcoming 2015-16 men's and women's basketball seasons.

Lincoln Memorial is set to host 24 total regular season games - 13 for the Railsplitters and 11 for the Lady Railsplitters - at Tex Turner Arena this season, and all 24 contests will be enhanced with a promotional event.

The Railsplitters open up the Tex Turner Arena slate against Hiwassee on November 19 with a poster giveaway. A limited number of men's basketball, women's basketball and cheer and dance commemorative posters will be available at the front entrance of the arena before the Railsplitters' 7 p.m. tip-off with the Tigers.

Lincoln Memorial then dives right into the South Atlantic Conference schedule, hosting Carson-Newman for Turkey Tuesday on November 24 and welcoming Coker for an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party on December 5.

After that, the Railsplitters host another single game and will provide a Finals Study Break for LMU students when Bluefield (Va.) invades Harrogate for a nonconference tilt on December 9. The Railsplitters and Lady Railsplitters then close out the first half of the semester and host Pajama Night against Wingate on December 16.

The remainder of the home schedule is South Atlantic Conference doubleheaders: Military/Civil Servants Appreciation Day vs. Queens on January 9, Beach Party vs. Anderson on January 13, Social Media Night vs. Tusculum on January 20, Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day vs. Lenoir-Rhyne on January 30, White Out vs. Brevard on February 3, Pink Out vs. Newberry on February 13, Abe Night vs. Mars Hill on February 17 and Relay for Life Kickoff/Senior Citizen Night vs. Catawba on February 27.

Below is the comprehensive list and detailed description of the basketball game day promotions.

Home Basketball Schedule with promotions

November 19 - MBB vs. Hiwassee, 7 p.m. (Sponsored by Holiday Tire)
Poster Giveaways: Get to the game early to receive limited edition schedule posters from the Lady Railsplitters, Railsplitters and the LMU Cheer and Dance squads. All three posters will be available for the first 75 fans in attendance. The Lady Railsplitters and Cheer and Dance teams will personally distribute the posters at the front gate, where fans can also collect a free, signed men's basketball poster.

November 24 - WBB, MBB vs. Carson-Newman, 6 and 8 p.m. (Sponsored by DeRoyal)
Turkey Tuesday: Come out and celebrate Thanksgiving early as the Lady Railsplitters and Railsplitters host arch-rival Carson-Newman. A prize will be awarded to the individual wearing the most festive and/or creative Thanksgiving-based costume.

December 5 - WBB, MBB vs. Coker, 2 and 4 p.m. (WBB sponsored by Pump Springs Baptist Church, MBB by Enix Jewelers)
Ugly Christmas Sweater Party: It's the first game in December, so what better way to get in the Christmas spirit than an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party? Make a fashion statement with your most ridiculous and tacky holiday sweater. The person wearing the "best" ugly Christmas sweater will receive a prize.

December 9 - MBB vs. Bluefield (Va.), 7:30 p.m. (Sponsored by Farm Bureau)
Finals Study Break: Finals week is stressful and an occasional break from studying is a scientifically-proven necessity. And there won't be a better place on campus to so than Tex Turner Arena when the Railsplitters host Bluefield College. There will be free food and drinks and, more importantly, a basketball game for students to unwind after a long day of exams and studying.

December 16 - WBB, MBB vs. Wingate, 6 and 8 p.m. (WBB sponsored by Sleep Inn, MBB by Holiday Inn)
Pajama Night: On a night sponsored by Sleep Inn and Holiday Inn of Middlesboro, LMU will host Pajama Night as the Lady Railsplitters and Railsplitters welcome Wingate to town. Student, faculty and staff and fans alike are encouraged to wear their pajamas to the game, and the person rocking the most creative attire will receive a prize.

January 9 - WBB, MBB vs. Queens, 2 and 4 p.m. (WBB sponsored by Harrogate Collison, MBB by Citizen's Bank)
Military and Civil Servants Appreciation Day: Lincoln Memorial will give thanks to all local civil servants and past or present military personnel in attendance. All of those individuals will receive free admission to the games.

January 13 - WBB, MBB vs. Anderson, 6 and 8 p.m. (Sponsored by Ball Realty)
Beach Party: It's cold outside, but it will be nice and warm inside of Tex Turner Arena when the Railsplitters and Lady Railsplitters host Anderson. Summer is still five months away, but a Beach Party will be just what the doctor ordered to escape the winter doldrums. Everyone is invited and encouraged to dust off the beach attire and wear it to the game for a night of fun in the sun.

January 20 - WBB, MBB vs. Tusculum, 6 and 8 p.m. (WBB sponsored by Minton Family Dental, MBB by First Century Bank)
Social Media Night: Lincoln Memorial will host a complete social media blitz when Tusculum visits Tex Turner Arena. Prizes will be available for those fans in attendance that show their support for the Lady Railsplitters and Railsplitters on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Three different individual contests for each of those social media platforms will be announced closer to game day.

January 30 - WBB, MBB vs. Lenoir-Rhyne, 2 and 4 p.m. (Sponsored by Alumni Services)
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night: As the basketball teams host Lenoir-Rhyne, the athletics department will host Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night by recognizing the wonderful and dedicated individuals that make Lincoln Memorial a special place. Players will individually select their favorite faculty or staff person to share game day alongside them.

February 3 - WBB, MBB vs. Brevard, 6 and 8 p.m. (Sponsored by Brothers Plumbing)
White Out: Informed by the night's game sponsor Brothers Plumbing, Lincoln Memorial will host a full-scale white out. Everyone is encouraged to wear white and bring toilet paper to decorate the student section.

February 13 - WBB, MBB vs. Newberry, 2 and 4 p.m. (Sponsored by Baker Cancer Treatment Center)
Pink Out: In conjunction with the annual Play 4Kay initiative, a product of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, Lincoln Memorial will pink out Tex Turner Arena in an effort to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. Local breast cancer survivors will also be in attendance and will be honored during a halftime ceremony.

February 17 - WBB, MBB vs. Mars Hill, 6 and 8 p.m. (Sponsored by Commercial Bank)
Abe Night: A belated 206th Happy Birthday celebration for our University's namesake, Abraham Lincoln. We will have beards and other Abe-related goodies for fans to wear at the game as the Lady Railsplitters and Lady Railsplitters host Mars Hill. Make our nation's 16th president proud!

February 27 - WBB, MBB vs. Catawba, 2 and 4 p.m. (WBB sponsored by All-Star Trophy, MBB by Giles Industries)
Relay for Life/Senior Citizen Night: In addition to serving as the tri-cities chapter of the Relay for Life kickoff, it's Senior Night for both the men's and women's basketball teams. To show your support for the players appearing in their final regular season games at Tex Turner Arena, fans are encouraged to dress up as senior citizens.
