HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The 14th-ranked Queens Royals (7-4, 4-0 SAC) opened by ripping off 15 unanswered goals and cruised to a 20-1 win, which was cut 10 minutes short due to field conditions that were deemed unsafe, over the Lady Railsplitters (0-7, 0-6 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday at the LMU Lacrosse Complex.
Â
The Royals scored six times before the first 10 minutes of regulation had passed, and the lead ballooned to 10-0 on Megan Wagner's fourth goal of the match with 17 minutes still remaining in the first frame. Queen would score five more times over the ensuing 10-minute stretch before letting off the gas in the last seven minutes of the half. Queens carried a 15-0 lead into the break.
Â
Autumn Beddington (Newburgh, Ind.) accounted for the Lady Railsplitters' only goal of the match, scoring off of a free position opportunity at the 26:16 mark of the second stanza.
Â
Maggie Master and Wagner both scored two more times, with a Kelly Dowd goal wedged in the middle, to push the Royals' lead to 20-1 by the 10:31 mark. It was at that point that the officials and coaches decided to call the game due to poor field conditions, as the wet LMU Lacrosse Complex field had transitioned into a soupy mess.
Â
Queens outshot the Lady Railsplitters 40-6, won 15 of the 22 draw controls and scooped up a 34-22 ground ball edge. The Royals went 10-for-10 on clears, while Lincoln Memorial was 5-for-17 in that department.
Â
Shannon Novak (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) was under siege all afternoon, making 11 saves and allowing 20 goals in her 49:41 in net.
Â
Bre'Asia James (Vero Beach, Fla.) led the Lady Railsplitters with four shots and six ground balls, but saw her point streak end at six games. Novak added five ground balls.
Â
The Lady Railsplitters wrap up their three-game home stand on Tuesday, welcoming Pikeville to the LMU Lacrosse Complex for a 3 p.m. nonconference match.
