HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Railsplitters (6-7, 5-5 SAC) closed out the LMU Tennis Complex with a 7-2 loss to 36th-ranked Queens Royals (13-2, 8-2 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday in Harrogate, Tenn.

Pepe Batalla (Barcelona, Spain) and
Joshua Peress (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) combined for Lincoln Memorial's only point in doubles play, improving to 10-3 as a tandem with an 8-6 win over Will Roberson and Jules Athalis in the second flight.

The other two doubles matches fell narrowly in Queens' favor, as
Joshua Coulthard (Staindrop, England) and
Will Sparks (Knoxville, Tenn.) lost 9-7 to Per-Erik Soler and Andor Vas at No. 1, while
Stefan Hall (Stratford, PEI) and
Carlos Zunino (Samborondon, Ecuador) dropped an 8-4 decision to Ole-Jacob Meum and Zachary Williams in the third flight.Â

Peress then picked up the only other point of the match for the Railsplitters, defeating Vas at the No. 4 singles flight 6-4, 6-2. The win helped Peress improve to 8-2 in South Atlantic Conference action.

Aside from Sparks's 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 loss to Roberson in the third singles flight, the four remaining matches fell in the Royals' favor in straight sets. Coulthard lost to Soler 6-1, 6-2 in the first flight, Batalla suffered a 6-4, 6-2 setback at No. 2,
Guilherme Rocha (Victoria, Brazil) lost a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Meum and Hall was beaten by Williams 8-4 in an accelerated pro set.

The loss drops the Railsplitters to 5-5 in SAC play and sixth place in the league standings. The top six teams in the final standings earn a bid to the South Atlantic Conference Championship.

Lincoln Memorial completes the regular season schedule on Sunday by traveling to Jefferson City, Tenn. for a SAC showdown against the Carson-Newman Eagles. Doubles play gets underway at 2 p.m.
