HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Despite wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 flights, The Railsplitter men's tennis team (1-3) fell to King (2-3) 7-2 Thursday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
After King swept LMU in doubles play, the Tornado picked up wins at the Nos. 1,2,3 and 6 flights to take the match.
Joshua Peress picked up the 6=1, 6-1 win over King's Philipp Lindauer at No. 4 singles to remain undefeated on the season.
David Segarra picked up LMU's other win at No. 5 over Jannis Walter 7-6, 6-0.
LMU's losses in singles play were all close with KU's Moritz Poswiat defeating
Joshua Coulthard 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 while No. 2 (Luis Delgado over
Moritz Hoerner) and No. 6 (Kyle Loque over LMU's
Guilherme Rocha) were 6-4, 6-3 decisions. LMU's
Pepe Batalla also lost a close match at No. 3 singles, falling 7-6, 6-3 to Lenny Keswani.
Peress and Batalla lost a close match at No. 2 doubles as they fell for the first time this season to King's Lindauer and Walter by an 8-6 margin.
LMU opens up SAC play this weekend as they travel to Wingate on Saturday and Catawba on Sunday.
