Last Time Out Â
The Lady Railsplitters built an 11-3 halftime lead and withstood a late push to defeat the Asbury Eagles 17-12 in Wilmore, Ky. on Tuesday afternoon, surpassing their win total from the entire 2015 campaign in the process. Freshman midfielder
Amara Moss (Woodbridge, Va.) broke the program's single-match scoring record by piling up six goals and an assist, while
Jasmin Click (Clermont, Fla.) collected four goals and an assist.

Â
Freshmen Making an Immediate Impact Â
Aside from James, who has accumulated 15 points with 10 goals and five assists, four of the Lady Railsplitters' top five scorers this season are freshmen. Moss leads the team in goals (15) and points (17), while Click has produced 10 goals and three assists.
Abby Hoskins (Louisville, Ky.) has contributed seven goals and three assists, and
Casey Kelly (Ellenwood, Ga.) has chipped in three goals with a team-leading six assists.
Â
Ending the SAC DroughtÂ
The Lady Railsplitters are looking to snap a nine-game losing streak in South Atlantic Conference play and pick up the program's first league victory on Saturday. Lincoln Memorial came within minutes of breaking into the win column in SAC play in the league opener last Saturday, but dropped a heartbreaker to the Newberry Wolves 10-9 in Harrogate. The Lady Railsplitters led that contest 9-6 with less than 24 minutes to play, but the Wolves closed on a 4-0 run to seal the come-from-behind victory. The Lady Railsplitters had several chances to get the equalizer late, but couldn't break through against the Newberry defense.
Â
Catawba on Two-Game SkidÂ
The Indians kicked off the 2016 campaign by pulling out a 12-11 win over Belmont Abbey in double overtime before waxing Chowan 20-3. However, Catawba has suffered back-to-back losses since that hot start, falling 16-10 to Queens in the SAC opener and most recently dropping a 13-11 decison at home to Shippensburg. The Indians host West Chester on Friday afternoon before making the trip to Lincoln Memorial to face the Lady Railsplitters on Saturday.
Â
Players to Watch Â
The Indians' offense is fueled by the trio of Meredith Jones, Megan Shortt and Kirstyn Kruse. Jones has accounted for a team-leading 21 points with eight goals and 13 assists, while Shortt leads Catawba in goals with 12 to go along with seven assists. Kruse has produced seven goals and six assists. Nicolette Salay (7 goals) and Hannah Scott (5 goals, 2 assists) are backing that three-headed attack. Senior Bethany Davis - also a member of Catawba's women's soccer squad - has started all four matches in net for the Indians, accumulating a 11.71 goals against average with a 44.6 save percentage over 210 minutes of action.
Â
High-Scoring OffenseÂ
The Indians have been one of the better offensive teams in the South Atlantic Conference this season, ranking third in the league in goals per game (13.25) and shooting percentage (51.5 percent). Catawba has landed nearly 82 percent of its shots on goal, with 84 of its 103 total shot attempts hitting the mark. That offensive production has largely been a product of solid draw control, as the Indians are ranked second in the SAC with 15.75 draw controls per match. Scott leads the Indians in that department with 19, while Shortt has posted 16 draw controls.
Â
Last Meeting Against Catawba Â
The Indians defeated the Lady Railsplitters 18-4 last season in Salisbury, N.C. That match was tied at 1-1 after the two teams traded goals early in the opening half, but Catawba ended the half on a 14-0 run to carry a 15-1 advantage into the break. James scored all four goals for the Lady Railsplitters, including two in the final three minutes of regulation. Jones had three goals and five assists to lead the Catawba attack.
