HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Railsplitter men's tennis team (5-7, 3-4 SAC) coasted past Brevard (1-10, 0-6 SAC) 7-2 in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
LMU started out with the 2-0 lead after Brevard was forced to default their No. 3 doubles No. 6 singles matches due to not having enough players.
The Railsplitters captured the other two doubles flights as
Pepe Batalla and
Joshua Peress won at No. 1 8-5 while
David Segarra and
Guilherme Rocha won at No. 2 8-3.
In singles play, Brevard won at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights, though the match at No. 1 saw LMU's
Joshua Coulthard fall in a close one 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). The Railsplitters picked up victories at No. 3, 4 and five to take the team win. At No. 3, Batalla won 6-4, 6-4, Peress won 6-2 6-1 at No. 4 while
Carlos Zunino blanked his opponent at No. 5 by a 6-0, 6-0 result.
LMU hosts Lenoir-Rhyne on Monday at the LMU Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
