FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. -- Julia Zellner's three-set 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 marathon win at the no. 6 flight sealed the 5-4 victory by LMU over host Emmanuel College Thursday evening. 

The win improves LMU to 2-0 on the season.

The Lions took all three doubles wins over the Lady Railsplitters, though at the no. 2 flight Johanna Delisse and Julia Loos kept it close, falling 8-6 to Emmanuel's Katharina Kiderlen and Maria Raich.

Emmanuel picked up their fourth win at the no. 1 flight before LMU swept the rest of the singles flights to capture the match victory. At no. 2 Marta Pinol picked up the win as Pearllan Cipriano was forced to retire after taking the first set 7-5. Loos won handily at the no. 3 flight with her 6-4, 6-4 victory over Raich. Julia Valls then won 6-2, 7-6 at no. 4 over Victoria Silva while Angelica Solano defeated Kiderlen 6-1, 6-4 at the no. 5 flight. 

With the match tied at 4-4, all eyes then were on Zellner and EC's Chloe O'Connor at the no. 6 flight. The two split with Zellner winning the first set 6-2 and O'Connor taking the second set 6-1. In the tiebreaker set, Zellner pulled out the 6-3 win to give the Lady Railsplitters the 5-4 match victory.

The next scheduled match for LMU is the Spring opener against the University of the Cumberlands on Feb. 3, 2018.
