HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU men's tennis team claimed their first win of the season with the 8-1 routing of the University of the Cumberlands Saturday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.

LMU swept all three doubles flights to take a 3-0 lead. The duo of David Segarra (Sabadell, Spain) and Pepe Batalla (Barcelona, Spain) blanked Dev Sivam and Tanishq Mahendu 8-0 at No. 2 while Xavier Marti (Tortosa, Spain) and Joshua Peress (Montréal, Québec, Canada) coasted by UC's Leonardo Couto and Aatu Merenheimo 8-1 at No. 1. Jake Tuchmann (Kennesaw, Ga.) and Carlos Zunino (Samborondón, Ecuador) defeated the Patriots' Luis Westrick and Sebastian Schiller 8-6 at the No. 3 flight.

In singles, Marti defeated Couto 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, Peress bested Merenheimo 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 2 flight while at No. 3 Batalla win over Mahandu 6-2, 6-3. At No. 4 Segarra won over Westrick 6-2, 6-3 and Zunino had a close match with Sivam before pulling out the 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 6.

LMU will host Union College Thursday at 4 p.m. in the LMU Tennis Complex.
