HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's lacrosse team returns to the friendly confines of the LMU Lacrosse Complex to host local rival UVa-Wise Thursday afternoon.
LMU (2-3) comes into the game after a heartbreaking loss this weekend at Catawba when they had a 16-15 lead going into the final minute and saw the Indians score two goals in the last 27 seconds to steal the win.
LMU is led by
Casey Kelly (Ellenwood, Ga.) with 14 goals, four assists, 12 ground balls and 20 draw controls.
Jasmin Click (Clermont, Fla.) and
Amara Moss (Woodbridge, Va.) each have 10 goals and one assist this season, with Moss also picking up 11 ground balls and winning 19 draws. Goalie
Shannon Novak (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) has 45 saves on the season and has given up 62 goals.
Wise enters the game with a 4-1 record on the season, with wins over Tusculum, Newberry, Lees-McRae and North Greenville. Their lone loss was a 12-9 setback at Catawba. They are led by McKayla Grasham, who has 11 goals, two assists, seven ground balls and 11 draws won this season. Jesse French is close behind with 10 goals and two assists. Goalie Melanie Reilly has 42 saves and has given up 39 goals this season.
LMU is 0-3 all-time against the Cavaliers, who are also in their third season of play.
