Lady Railsplitters host Wingate in home SAC opener Sunday

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's lacrosse team looks to improve to 2-1 in South Atlantic Conference play as they host Wingate Sunday afternoon in the home SAC opener. The game will be played at the LMU Soccer Complex due to recent heavy rains.

LMU opened SAC play with a 15-9 win at Newberry on March 4 and then last week they had a heartbreaking 17-16 loss at Catawba in a game that saw them holding a 16-15 lead with 30 seconds remaining. They also lost to UVa-Wise at home Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Railsplitters are led by Casey Kelly (Ellenwood, Ga.) with 16 goals, six assists, 13 ground balls and 24 draws won on the season. Jasmin Click (Clermont, Fla.) currently has 13 goals, two assists and 13 draws while Amara Moss (Woodbridge. Va.) has 10 goals, an assist, 11 ground balls and 19 draws won. Goalie Shannon Novak (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) has 61 saves while giving up 78 goals this season.

Wingate comes into the match with a 5-2 overall record and a loss to Lenoir-Rhyne in their only SAC match this season. Brittany Andrew leads the Bulldogs with 25 goals and three assists. Paulena Dempsey has 12 goals and 11 assists and Shannon O'Neal has 16 goals and an assist. Arion Pickle has spent the most time in cage for WU this season, and she has 63 saves and has given up 54 goals.
