Quick Hits:

-The Railsplitters suffered a five-set loss at Emmanuel on Friday night. Lincoln Memorial jumped out to a 2-0 lead after winning the first two sets 30-28 and 25-23, but the Lions won back-to-back 25-23 frames to force a fifth set. The Lions then rallied again to win the fifth set 15-10 and avenge a five-set loss to Lincoln Memorial from back on February 25.

-The Railsplitters came up short in a 3-1 loss at North Greenville on Saturday afternoon, falling by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 18-25 and 25-17. Lincoln Memorial hit .198 in that contest, but committed a plethora of errors – 21 attack, 15 service and six reception. Evan Cory (Metairie, La.) was the lone Railsplitter with double-figure kills, posting 12 on 23 attempts.

-Cory recorded the first triple-double in the history of the LMU men's volleyball program in that loss at Emmanuel, tallying 14 kills on a .400 clip to go along with 20 assists and 10 digs. The 10 digs were two shy of matching a career-high mark, while the 20 assists were far and away the most of Cory's young career.

-After winning three straight matches from February 17-25, the Railsplitters have lost three of their last four contests. Lincoln Memorial's only win over that span was a straight-sets victory over the winless Bluefield Rams.

-Lincoln Memorial is 5-2 at Mary Mars Gym as compared to a 2-10 mark everywhere else. Five of the Railsplitters' seven home matches have required five sets.

-Freshman middle blocker Pedro Carvalho (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has hit above .350 in seven of his last eight appearances. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native had seven kills on just 14 attempts against North Greenville. He had his only sub-.350 performance since mid-February against Emmanuel, finishing with eight kills and three errors for a .250 clip.

Notes on the Lions:

-Bryan lost the first seven matches of its second season of existence, but picked up the first win of the 2017 campaign with a 3-0 win over Bluefield on Saturday. The Lions followed that up with a 3-0 loss to Lawrence Technological University that same day. All eight of Bryan's losses have come in straight sets.

-In its loss to Campbellsville on March 2, the most recent game with statistics available, Will Stokes and Nathaniel Shadoan keyed the Bryan attack by combining for 20 of the team's 24 kills. Stokes had 12, while Shadoan finished with eight on a team-leading 28 attempts. Nick Scully led the way with 19 assists, while Stokes and Karleman Casebolt led the way with six digs apiece.

-The numbers were similar in the Lions' loss to St. Andrews, as Stokes (8) and Shadoan (5) combined for 13 of the team's 18 kills. Scully had 15 assists and led the team along with Stokes in digs with six.

-Bryan finished 3-9 in the inaugural 2016 campaign. The Lions either postponed or cancelled six different matches that season.

-The Railsplitters and Lions share four common opponents in Bluefield, Campbellsville, Cincinnati Christian and St. Andrews. Lincoln Memorial is a combined 4-1 against that quartet, while Bryan is 1-3, with its lone win coming against Bluefield.
