HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The LMU men's tennis team continued their winning streak with the 7-2 win over Coker Sunday afternoon. They have now won nine consecutive matches.
LMU won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to grab the early 2-1 lead. At No. 2,
Xavier Marti (Tortosa, Spain) and
Joshua Peress (Montreal, Quebec) defeated Henrik Hellbe/Hunter Horton 8-4 to grab their 10
th win of the season. They are now 10-5 overall. At No. 3,
Pepe Batalla (Barcelona, Spain) and
David Segarra (Sabadell, Spain) improved to 12-3 on the season with their 9-8 win over Mark Watt and Dominic Allan.
LMU swept the 2-6 flights in singles to claim the 7-2 victory. At No. 2, Marti remained undefeated vs. SAC competition (7-0) with the 6-2, 6-1 win over Hellbe. Peress earned win no. 13 on the season with the 6-4, 6-3 win over Schweyer at No. 3. Batalla moved to 14-1 overall and 6-1 vs. SAC players with his 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4 over Horton while Segarra needed three sets to remain undefeated on the season (14-0 overall, 6-0 SAC) as he won over Bergbom 7-6, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 5. Moritz Hoerner (Erlangen, Germany) coasted to the 6-4, 6-3 win over Allan.
LMU hosts a pair of SAC matches this week, hosting Queens on April 4 and Newberry on April 8.
