HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU tennis teams host a pair of key South Atlantic Conference matches this week as they host Queens on Tuesday and Newberry Saturday.
The LMU men are enjoying their best season since the 2012-13 campaign as they are currently 13-2 overall, 6-1 in SAC play and currently riding a nine match win streak. They are also ranked 10th in the region in the most recent ITA regional poll.
They are led by
David Segarra, who is currently 14-0 on the season and 7-0 against SAC competition.
Pepe Batalla is 14-1 and 6-1 in SAC play. Other key contributors are
Xavier Marti (11-1, 7-0 SAC) and
Joshua Peress (13-2, 6-2 SAC). In doubles, Batalla and Sagarra have a 12-3 overall and 5-2 SAC record while Marti and Peress are 10-5 overall and 5-2 in the SAC.
Queens enters the contest ranked ninth in the region. The Royals have a 10-1 overall record and are undefeated in SAC play at 8-0. Newberry is currently 15-5 and 6-3 in the SAC.
The LMU women's team is 10-4 overall and 4-3 in SAC play. They are led by
Marta Pinol, who is 10-2 overall and 4-2 in the SAC.
Angelica Solano is also 10-2 and is 5-1 in the SAC. In doubles play the duo of
Julia Loos and
Johanna Delisse are 9-3 overall and 4-2 in the SAC while Pinol and
Roksolana Prudyvus are 8-3 overall.
First up for the Lady Railsplitters is 50th-ranked Queens, who enter the contest 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the SAC. The Royals upset 39th-ranked Tusculum 7-2 Saturday, handing the Pioneers their first SAC loss of the season. Newberry comes to town for a Saturday match with a 12-9 overall record and a 4-5 record in the SAC.
