No. 13 Lincoln Memorial plays Queens to a 3-3 draw

HARROGATE, Tenn. – No. 13 Lincoln Memorial could not hold onto a pair of two-goal leads in the second half as the Railsplitters (3-0-2, 0-0-2 SAC) and Queens Royals (2-2-2, 0-1-2 SAC) settled for a 3-3 tie Saturday at the LMU Soccer Complex. It was the Railsplitters' third consecutive overtime match and second straight tie to open SAC play.

Andres Pratto enjoyed a career day with a goal and pair of assists. Danilo da Silva also racked his second multi-point game of the year with a goal and assist.

The Railsplitters attempted a season-high 19 shots, and ten landed on goal. However, the LMU defense allowed a season-high 18 with 11 of those Royals shots landing on goal.

Pratto opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a header following a pair of quick passes off a corner kick from da Silva and Felipe de Sousa. The goal was Pratto's first of the year.

The second half opened up quite a bit for both teams, as they combined for five goals, 22 shots, 27 fouls and five yellow cards.

Da Silva put the Railsplitters ahead 2-0 early in the second half following a perfect cross form Pratto. His 49th-minute score is his team-leading fourth in five games.

Queens answered back just four minutes later on a penalty kick from Liam Doyle. The Royals were awarded the shot after an LMU foul in the box.

Queens was awarded another penalty kick on a similar play in the 59th minute. Doyle once again attempted the shot, but Caleb Cothrin made a diving stop to preserve the Railsplitter lead.

That save was the highlight of Cothrin's career-high eight. He also allowed a season-worst three goals after holding opponents to just one score over his first three appearances.

Philip Wong put the Railsplitters ahead 3-1 with a 67th-minute strike for his first goal of the year after being fed a long pass from Pratto.

Queens got that goal back just under three minutes later on a goal by Edmundo Robinson off a rebound. Cothrin saved the original shot by Keegan Burton, but the ball deflected right to Robinson, who didn't miss the open net.

The Royals kept constant pressure on the Railsplitters, and it paid off in the 88th minute when Alberto Morales beat an LMU defender and struck a well-placed ball past Cothrin into the upper corner of the goal.

Lincoln Memorial owned a modest 3-2 shots advantage in the two overtime periods, and each goalkeeper made a pair of saves, though a real scoring chance never materialized. The Railsplitters played a man down for the final eight minutes of the game after Felipe Machado was sent off for picking up his second yellow card of the match.
