Railsplitters beat third nationally-ranked opponent of the season with 2-0 win over No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team pulled off its second top-25 victory of the week, remained undefeated and picked up its first South Atlantic Conference win with a 2-0 defeat of No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne (4-2, 1-2 SAC) Saturday at the LMU Soccer Complex. Both teams attempted four corners, but it was the Railsplitters (5-0-2) that made the most of them.

Andres Pratto headed a corner from Andreas Xenofontos past Bears goalkeeper Zach King in the 37th minute for the team's first goal. A low corner from Danilo da Silva found its way to Henrique Rezek in the 59th minute for the Railsplitters' second score.

King entered Saturday's match as the top-ranked goalie in the South Atlantic Conference in terms of goals allowed and save percentage. Saturday's match doubled his goals allowed total, as the senior entered the day having only allowed two goals in five matches.

Caleb Cothrin asserted his case as one of the top goalkeepers in the conference with his third shutout in six games. He also made five saves on the day and now leads the SAC with 33 total.

Lincoln Memorial outshot the Bears 13-8 and held a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. Da Silva recorded game highs in both categories with five shots and three on goal.

The Railsplitters entered the match tied for the fourth-most fouls per game in all of NCAA Division II at 17.83. The team also entered as the fifth-most carded team. Lincoln Memorial continued its physical, aggressive play with 19 more fouls and three yellow cards.

Ismael Noumansana, the defending SAC Player of the Year, was rendered ineffective by the Railsplitter defense and recorded a season-low one shot.
