Collins earns 100th win with women's team in 6-3 win over Union

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Railsplitter women's tennis team played their third match in four days and handed Head Coach Benny his 100th career win as women's coach with the 6-3 win over Union Sunday afternoon in the Indoor Tennis Facility. LMU moves to 5-1 on the season with the win.

UC won the #1 doubles match but LMU picked up 8-3 wins at #2 and #3 to claim the 2-1 lead. At #2 Kristin Vogel and Kiersten Waugh won over Christina Schoener/Erika Broady while at #3 Angelica Solano and Julia Valls defeated Alina Schweizer/Carla Delgado.

In singles, UC won at #1 and #2, but LMU swept #3-#6 to claim the 6-3 victory. Valls defeated Schoener at #3 in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 while at #4 Julia Zellner coasted to the 6-2, 6-0 win over Brittany Lamb. At #5 Solano bested Schweizer 6-4, 6-1, and at #6 Waugh cruised by Delgado 6-1, 6-0.

LMU will now be off until Feb. 20, when they travel to Young Harris. Their next home match will be on Feb. 24 against Martin Methodist.
