YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Lady Railsplitter tennis team and Young Harris slugged it out on the courts for over four hours before the Mountain Lions eked out the 5-4 win Tuesday afternoon. Four of the six singles flights went to three sets.

YHC (3-1) took the three doubles flights to take a 3-0 lead. On court no. 3, the Mountain Lions' Elin Rundcrantz/Laura Sanchez won over Julia Valls and Angelica Solano 8-3. Over on court one, Julia Loos and Johanna Delisse fell to Ana Rodriguez/Oriana Labaqui 8-3 while at court two Kristin Vogel and Kiersten Waugh were beaten by Maria Puerta/Carol Quevedo 8-2.

Vogel, Julia Zellner and Solano then tied the match up at 3-3 with their wins. On court two, Vogel defeated Labaqui 6-2, 6-3 while on court five Zellner edged Quevedo 6-4, 6-3. Solano dropped the first set on court six by a 6-0 score, then rallied back to take set two 6-4 and win the third set 7-5.

Sanchez then put the Mountain Lions ahead 4-3 as she bested Valls 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 on court four. Loos evened the match again, this time at 4-4, with her 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Rodriguez on court three.

It all came down to the winner of the match on court one, where 35th-ranked Marta Pinol had a marathon game going as she won the first set on a tiebreaker over Rundcrantz 7-6 (7-4). Rundcrantz then took the second set 6-2. The third set went down to the wire, but Rundcratz edged out Pinol 7-5 to take the no. 1 flight and hand Young Harris the 5-4 victory.

LMU (5-2) will host Martin Methodist on Saturday.
