Eleventh-ranked Rollins overpowers Lady Railsplitters, 16-3

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Eleventh-ranked Rollins had 11 players score en route to the 16-3 win over the LMU women's lacrosse team Sunday morning.

The loss drops LMU to 1-1 on the season. Rollins improves to 1-1 with their win.

LMU's goals came from Kennedy Buechner and Amara Moss in the first half, with LMU's second half goal coming from Casey Kelly. Kelly also led LMU with five shots. Shannon Novak and Micayla Starnes each played a half at goalie, with Novak having six saves and Starnes five.

Nikki Stumpf led the Tars with three goals, while Kallie German, Hannah Ashton and Hannah Forbes each had two goals apiece. Sarah Neely picked up the win at goalie for Rollins.

Rollins rolled out to the 7-0 lead before Moss won the draw and eventually worked the ball in to Buechner, who scored with 20:48 remaining in the half. Rollins scored another goal and then both teams had several possessions before Moss found the back of the net with 12:46 left. Rollins would score again and lead 9-2 at the half.

LMU scored first in the second half as they were playing a woman down due to a yellow card and were working to kill time until both teams were even again when RC's Kaitlin Young fouled Kelly. She then scored on the subsequent free position shot to make the score 9-3 with 24:13 remaining in the game. The Tars then went on a tear as their defense held LMU to only three shots the rest of the game while they scored seven more times.

LMU will be off until March 3, when they host Siena Heights in the home opener. It will be the first of four consecutive home games and six out of seven games played at the LMU Lacrosse Complex.
