No. 1 Railsplitters try for record-breaking 30th straight SAC win on Wednesday at Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. – The No. 1 Railsplitters (21-1, 15-0 SAC) will try for a record-breaking 30th consecutive South Atlantic Conference victory on Wednesday night when they pay the floundering Anderson Trojans (7-15, 5-9 SAC) a visit for an 8 p.m. tip-off. Lincoln Memorial is also hoping to extend the nation's longest active road winning streak to 19 games and send the Trojans to their fourth consecutive loss.

The Railsplitters are in the midst of a 29-game SAC winning streak, which is tied for the league and program record that Lincoln Memorial set from 2014-16. This current streak began coincidentally with a 94-77 win at Anderson on January 11, 2017. The Railsplitters, who are vying for their sixth straight regular-season conference title, are 15-0 in SAC play this season with a 1.5 game lead over second-place Queens.

Lincoln Memorial matched the SAC winning streak record and extended its overall winning streak to 10 games on Saturday with a 117-95 win over the Newberry Wolves at Tex Turner Arena. A high-octane offense carried the day for the Railsplitters, who shot 62 percent and buried 14 three-pointers in the contest while summoning 66 points in the second half to withstand a barrage of 19 three-pointers by the Wolves.

Trevon Shaw drilled eight three-pointers by himself and scored a game-high 35 points in that victory, but the day belonged to big man Emanuel Terry, who pitched in a career-high 31 points on 11-of-13 shooting to go along with 14 rebounds, three blocks and three assists.

In the process, Terry became the 29th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points and also reset the program's career record for blocks with 199. The senior forward needs just one more to become the first player for either the men's or women's basketball program with 200 career blocks. He would be just the fifth player in SAC history to reach that mark and the first since Catawba's Tyrece Little did so in 2014.

Terry has been an absolute beast all season, leading the SAC in double-doubles with 10 and rebounds per game with 10.6 while ranking fourth in points per game with 18.4. In addition to that, he leads the SAC and ranks second nationally in field-goal percentage with an absurd 71.8 percent mark.

Terry and the Railsplitters will try to keep things rolling when they face a struggling Anderson squad on Wednesday night. The Trojans are in the midst of a three-game losing streak that includes a 23-point loss at Queens, a 31-point setback at Carson-Newman and most recently a 12-point home loss to Catawba. Their last win was back on January 20 – a 75-65 win over Lenoir-Rhyne.

Anderson has not been particularly good in any area. The Trojans are scoring just 71.9 points per game in SAC play, which is the second-lowest output in the conference. In addition to that, the Trojans are allowing over 80 points per game and 46 percent shooting in SAC play while averaging a league-worst 33 rebounds per contest. Anderson is also foul prone with an average of over 20 fouls per outing.

Juniors Randall Shaw, Gage Ellis and Jeremy Bouton are leading the way for the Trojans. Shaw is putting up 14.9 points per game but is shooting just 38 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range. Ellis is chipping in 14.7 points per game on a much more efficient 53.4 percent shooting, while Bouton is contributing 12.9 points and a team-leading 6.1 rebounds per contest on a 49 percent clip from three.

That trio is backed by Maurice Howard and Josh Livingstone, who are adding right at seven points per game.

Shaw didn't play in the first meeting against the Railsplitters this season and the short-handed Trojans paid the price with an 87-54 loss. Lincoln Memorial absolutely dominated defensively, holding the visitors to 28.8 percent shooting in that 33-point win at Tex Turner Arena. LMU opened the game on a 15-0 run and led outright for all but 14 seconds.

In the absence of Shaw, Bouton led Anderson with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Ellis added 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting. No other Trojan finished with more than eight points.

Cornelius Taylor posted a career-high 31 points on an absurd 11-for-16 shooting to pace the Railsplitters, while Terry had 19 points and eight rebounds. Dorian Pinson nearly had a triple-double with 13 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists.

The Railsplitters haven't lost to Anderson since the 2013-14 campaign, reeling off nine consecutive wins in the series. That last six games have been decided by margins of 33, 22, 17, 16, 15 and 19, respectively.

Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. at Anderson's Abney Center. Live stats and video links are available at www.lmurailsplitters.com while fans can also listen along with Voice of the Railsplitters Rusty Peace at WLMU 91.3 The Gap.

Quick Hits

- Trevon Shaw is currently leading the nation in three-pointers with 97 on an astounding 48.7 percent clip, which is good for the seventh-best three-point percentage in the country. With three more triples, he would become the third player in program history to hit 100 in a season. It would also mark the fourth consecutive season that a Railsplitter has hit 100 three-pointers, following in the footsteps of Luquon Choice and Jalen Steele.

- The Railsplitters continue to lead the country in field-goal percentage offense (55.6) and defense (36.5). Aside from Newberry, who has scored 95 and 94 in their two meetings, Lincoln Memorial has not allowed more than 80 points in a game all season.

- The Railsplitters have won their last six games by margins of 22, 32, 44, 33, 29 and 39 points, respectively. Lincoln Memorial leads the entire Division II in scoring margin, winning by an average of 29 points per game.
