Railsplitters host Emmanuel, aim to end three-game skid on Wednesday

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's volleyball team (3-5) returns home from a trip to Quincy, Ill. and St. Charles, Mo. for a two-game homestand at Mary Mars Gymnasium starting with a match Wednesday against the Emmanuel Lions (2-6). The home team won in five sets in both of last year's meetings.

- The Railsplitters played their first two true road games of the season at Quincy and Lindenwood. LMU won the first two sets Friday against Quincy but dropped the next three to lose the match in five sets (28-26, 25-19, 16-25, 20-25, 13-15). The Railsplitters fell in straight sets the next night at Lindenwood (22-25, 19-25, 20-25).
 
- Evan Cory tallied a season-high 17 kills and made a career-high 13 digs in the match at Quincy. Marcus Molina added a season-high nine kills. Jordan Walley had a career high with eight kills but also committed 10 attacking errors. AJ Risavy and Logan Kerley also posted career highs with 40 assists and 14 digs, respectively.
 
- Kills were nearly even between Lincoln Memorial and Quincy with the Railsplitters holding a slight 51-50 edge, but LMU hit just .168 with 29 attack errors. In contrast, Quincy had a .228 attack percentage and only made 19 attack errors. The Hawks committed nine more service errors (22-13) but also led in service aces 8-3 and total blocks 14-8.
 
- Lindenwood held a 39-26 edge in kills and hit .329 with 14 attack errors compared to LMU's .110 attack percentage with 18 attack errors. Lindenwood didn't hit below .250 in any set, while the Railsplitters never hit above .200. The Lions also totaled eight blocks to Lincoln Memorial's 5.5.
 
- Lincoln Memorial is 3-1 at Mary Mars Gymnasium on the season and 11-6 all-time. The team's lone loss on the season came in its most recent home match against King.
 
- Evan Cory has recorded a double-digit kill total in five of eight matches and leads the team with 82 kills, 3.15 kills per set (27th nationally) and eight service aces. However, the sophomore from Metairie, Louisiana has been held to a season-low seven kills in two of the Railsplitters' last three matches.
 
Notes on Emmanuel:
 
- The Lions have dropped three consecutive straight-set matches to Mount Olive, Barton and King. The team also kicked off the year with a three-game losing streak at the hands of Fort Wayne, Ball St. and Coker. Emmanuel's two wins have come at home over Brewton-Parker and Limestone.
 
- The Lions are 0-5 on the road.
 
- Emmanuel struggled offensively in its most recent match at King and hit .110 for the night. King led in kills 41-27 and hit .275. Ackeem West led the Lions in kills with nine.
 
- Emmanuel is seventh nationally with 1.78 kills per set. However, that number is a bit skewed, as 24 of the team's 48 kills came in the win over Brewton-Parker.
 
- Manuel Melenciano is sixth nationally with .577 service aces per set. The sophomore has 15 total on the year with a season-high five against Brewton-Parker.
 
- Fellow sophomores Aleksa Lakic and Don Thompson lead the team with 56 total kills apiece. Thompson has the best attack percentage at .402 (11th nationally).
