WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Railsplitters broke the program record for goals and
Adam Golia reset the program's single-season points record in a 26-5 shellacking of Concordia-Ann Arbor on Monday at the University of the Cumberlands' James H. Taylor, II Stadium.
Lincoln Memorial (7-1) extended the best start in program history and claimed the program's longest ever winning streak with its fifth consecutive win, while Concordia-Ann Arbor (0-3) remained winless in its second season of existence.
Golia scored five goals and added two assists to drive his season point total to 55, breaking the program's previous single-season record of 51 that he set during the 2017 campaign. The senior has a chance to put that record in the stratosphere with a minimum of eight regular-season games remaining on the schedule.
Golia was one of many offensive players that shined in the win, as the Railsplitters shattered the program records for points (47), goals (26) and assists (21).
Anthony Teresky racked up two goals and six assists,
Chris Tucker led the way with six goals to go along with an assist,
Jared Courchene poured in five goals and one assist, and
Kyle Arcuri contributed three goals with two assists.
Dylan Neisler scored two goals and Bryan Halona posted two assists.
Tylor Justin chipped in a goal and an assist.
Eight other players produced one point for the Railsplitters, who outshot the Cardinals 51-21 with a 39-14 edge in shots on goal.
Lincoln Memorial shut out Concordia in the first half and opened the match on a 15-0 run. Arcuri had three goals and an assist in the first quarter, while Golia and Tucker scored twice in the second quarter. The Cardinals scored their first goal with 12:24 left in the third quarter but the Railsplitters followed that up with a 4-0 run to push their lead to 19-1.
Concordia scored at the tail end of the third quarter and once more eight seconds into the fourth before the Railsplitters ended the match on a 7-2 spurt. Tucker accounted for three of LMU's seven goals over that closing stretch that ended the 21-goal victory.
Devin Wolever had a hand in three of Concordia's five goals, scoring two while assisting on another. Kendrik Scherer suffered the loss in goal, allowing all 26 goals while making 13 saves over 60 minutes of work.
Michael Kessler picked up the win for the Railsplitters with no goals allowed and one save in the first quarter. The freshman moves to 6-1 on the season with the victory.
The Railsplitters return to South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday when they welcome the Queens Royals to the LMU Lacrosse Complex for a 4 p.m. start. The Royals are currently sitting at 2-2 overall as they prepare for their SAC opener.
