Lady Railsplitters host no. 15 Queens in SAC opener Saturday in Williamsburg, Kentucky

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's lacrosse team opens South Atlantic Conference play as they host fifteenth-ranked Queens in Williamsburg, Kentucky Saturday afternoon. The game has been moved to the campus of the University of the Cumberlands due to field conditions in Harrogate after a rainy and snowy week.

LMU comes into the game with a 3-1 record and ten days of rest since their last game vs. Nyack on March 6. Amara Moss leads the team with 15 goals scored. She is tied for the lead in points with Kennedy Buechner with 19 and is tied with Casey Kelly for draws won with 25. Buechner and Kelly have 14 goals apiece while Buechner is tied with Jacquelin Turner for the team lead in assists with five. Zoe Zervos and Shannon Novak lead the team in ground balls while Novak has 37 saves on the season. Novak leads the SAC in goals against (37) and is second in both save percentage (50.0) and goals against average (12.33).

As a team, LMU leads the SAC in goals per game (14.75), shooting percentage (53.6%), shots on goal percentage (86.4), draw controls per game (15.25), goals against (46) and goals against average (11.50%).

No. 15 Queens comes into Saturday's contest with a 1-6 record after falling to sixth-ranked Limestone 12-8 Thursday evening. Their lone win was against Tampa on February 22. However, six of their seven games this season have been against top-25 competition, including four ranked in the top ten.  

Hanna Scott and Katie Wardle lead the attack for the Royals. Scott has 11 goals and eight assists while Wardle has nine goals and ten assists. Allison Conn has won 19 draws while Cammy Case has 11 draws and 30 ground balls. Goalie Chase Brokaw has spent the most time in cage this season and has made 66 saves while giving up 92 goals.

Last season Queens out-shot LMU 38-15 en route to a 24-5 win. Heather Roache and Buechner scored two goals each for the Lady Railsplitters and Zervos chipped in a goal. Katie Pawlikowski came off the bench to lead the Royals with four goals, while Scott, Ally Blood and Sydney Lear chipped in three goals each.

Following Saturday's game, LMU will travel to Mars Hill for their first-ever meeting with the Lions. This is the inaugural season of women's lacrosse at Mars Hill, and they have a 2-3 record heading into Saturday's game with Wingate. First draw at Mars Hill is set for 5 p.m.
