HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's lacrosse team hosts Catawba Saturday morning at the LMU Lacrosse Complex seeking not only their fifth win of the season but also to tie their best-ever record in South Atlantic Conference competition.
LMU enters with a 4-2 overall record and a 1-1 SAC record following Thursday's 20-9 win at Mars Hill. Both of LMU's losses came against top-15 programs.
LMU is led by
Amara Moss' 21 goals, 25 points, and 36 draws won.
Kennedy Buechner and
Casey Kelly have 18 goals each while Kelly also has won 35 draws. Against Mars Hill Kelly also became the first Lady Railsplitter to surpass the 100 points mark for their career. Kelly and
Jacquelin Turner each have six assists to lead the team and
Zoe Zervos leads the team with 19 ground balls.
Shannon Novak is among the SAC leaders in goalie statistics as she ranks first in goals allowed (59), second in save percentage (50.0%) and wins (4), and third in goals against average (13.11).
As a team, the Lady Railsplitters lead the SAC in goals per game (13.67), shooting percentage (54.3%), shots on goal percentage (84.1), and goals against/allowed (76). They are second in clears (87-126) and save percentage (48.3%) and third in draw controls per game (13.83).
Catawba is currently 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the SAC following wins over Newberry and Wingate. They have the most potent offensive attack in the SAC as they lead the conference in goals (146), assists (66), shots (325), and draw controls (143). They are also second in goals per game (13.27) and ground balls (260).
Erin Green leads the Indians with 23 goals, and Brooklyn Tilley has 22. Tilley also leads the team in draws with 25. Gianna Pezzulo has 21 goals and 22 assists. Nicole Hunt and Becky Frost each have 27 ground balls. Madison Anselmo has seen the most time in cage and has a goals against average of 14.23 and a save percentage of 39.3 percent.
With LMU on Spring Break, the team will play four times over the next eight days. They host Catawba on Saturday and then Mount Saint Mary College on Monday before hitting the road for games at UVA-Wise on Wednesday and Wingate next Saturday.
