HARROGATE, Tenn. – After falling behind 2-1 after doubles, the LMU men's tennis team rallied back with five singles wins to claim the 6-3 win over Coker Saturday morning in the Indoor Tennis Facility.
LMU is now 7-5 overall and 3-2 in the SAC.
Coker opened the match with a pair of 8-7 wins at the no. 1 and no. 2 flights. At no. 3,
Xavier Marti and
Constantin Ernstberger picked up the 8-7 win over Felix Schweyer and Simon Bergbom.
Joshua Peress took the no. 1 flight 6-2, 6-1 over Mark Watt to improve to 12-4 overall on the season and 4-1 in SAC play. The win also makes him one shy of becoming only the second player in LMU history to win 60 matches in singles as he now has 59. He trails first place Philipp Hoffmann by 11.
???????Ernstberger remained perfect in SAC matches at 5-0 as he cruised to the 6-1, 6-0 win at no. 2 over Hunter Horton, while at no. 3,
Xavier Marti bested Schweyer 6-3, 6-3.
At no. 4
David Segarra picked up career win no. 47 with his 6-1, 6-3 win over Henrik Hellbe, and
Iker Tomas Moure defeated Bergbom at no. 5 6-2, 7-5.
LMU will have a few days off for spring break and return to action at Newberry on March 30.
