HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's tennis team picked up their ninth win of the season as they blasted Coker 9-0 Saturday morning in the Indoor Tennis Facility
LMU moves to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in SAC play, while Coker falls to 5-5 and 0-2 in the SAC.
The closest match of the day was at the no. 1 doubles flight, where
Marta Pinol and
Angelica Solano had to go to a tiebreaker to defeat Jennifer Mezei and Suzanna Mickey 8-7 (7-4). At the no. 2 flight,
Julia Loos and
Johanna Delisse won over Jennifer Ruetten and Julia Sorrells 8-2 while
Kristin Vogel and
Julia Valls won handily over Charlotte Clarke and Kelli Hurt at no. 3 by an 8-0 margin.
In singles play, LMU took the first three flights before the final three ended went to pro sets to speed up the match. At no. 1, Pinol needed a tiebreaker to defeat Mezei as she won 5-7, 6-2, 10-8. Vogel won over Mickey 6-0, 6-2 at no. 2 while at no. 3 Loos easily handled Ruetten 6-1, 6-2.
At no. 4, Valls blasted Sorrells 8-0 and at no. 5
Julia Zellner improved to 5-0 in SAC play with her 8-0 win over Clarke. Solano then finished the match with a 8-1 win at no. 6 over Jenna Gainey
LMU will have a few days off for spring break and return to action at Newberry on March 30.
