HARROGATE, Tenn. – After a two week layoff, the LMU tennis teams return to action this week when they host Catawba Saturday at noon in the South Atlantic Conference opener for both teams. Due to the cold temperatures in the area the matches will be played in the Indoor Tennis Facility.
The women's tennis team is currently 6-2 overall have won three of their last four matches. Four of their players are currently 7-1 on the season in singles play –
Julia Loos,
Julia Valls,
Angelica Solano and
Julia Zellner. In doubles play the duet of Solano and Valls are 5-3 while
Kristin Vogel and
Kiersten Waugh are 4-1.
Catawba's women are 2-3 overall and are led by Erisa Onchi, who has a 4-1 record at the no. 1 singles flight. Sophie Hirsh and Isabel Benoit both have 3-1 records in singles play. In doubles, Benoit and Hirsh lead the team with a 3-1 record.
On the men's side, LMU is 4-3 on the season.
Constantin Ernstberger leads the team with a 6-1 record while
Joshua Peress is 5-2. In doubles, Peress and
David Segarra have a 4-2 record while
Xavier Marti and
Iker Tomas Moure are 3-2.
Catawba comes into the match with a 2-2 record. Vid Rados is 3-1 on the season in singles while Ryen Reid, Adam Rocko and Samuel Schwarz are all 2-2. In doubles, Lucas Miller and Luca Picci are 2-0.
Following Saturday's matches, LMU will play at Carson-Newman on March 13 and at Queens on March 17. Their next home matches will be on March 21 when they host Tusculum.
