BRISTOL, Tenn. – The 44
th ranked Railsplitters picked up blew by the King Tornado 7-2 Tuesday afternoon to improve to 10-6 on the year. King falls to 4-12.
After
David Segarra and
Joshua Peress cruised to the 8-1 win at no. 2 doubles,
Jake Tuchmann and
Moritz Hoerner eked out the 8-7 win at no. 2 over King's Lennard Newman and Alejandro Feliciano. LMU then went to 3-0 for the match with
Xavier Marti and
Constantin Ernstberger's 8-4 win at no. 3.
Peress then defeated Feliciano 6-4, 6-2 at no. 1 singles to put the Railsplitters ahead 4-0.
King got on the board for their first point as Arturo Alfaro defeated Marti at no. 3 6-3, 6-4. Lenny Keswani would cut the LMU lead to 4-2 with his 7-6, 7-5 victory at no. 1 over Ernstberger.
The Railsplitters then needed one point out of the final three flights to take the match, and picked up wins at all three.
Iker Tomas Moure had the match-winner at flight no. 5 with his 6-0, 6-0 win over Noah Baker. Hoerner would then win over Trey Hunley 6-0, 6-0 at no. 6, followed by Segarra's 6-1, 6-2 victory over Charles Jabaley at no 4.
LMU will return to SAC play tomorrow afternoon at Mars Hill.
