MARS HILL, N.C. – The 33
rd ranked Railsplitters overwhelmed Mars Hill 9-0 Wednesday afternoon to improve to 11-6 on the season as well as move to 6-3 in the South Atlantic Conference.
The win also moves the Railsplitters to a tie for third place in the SAC standings with Newberry with the conference tournament beginning one week from now. LMU does hold a tiebreaker with their 6-3 win over the Wolves. A win in the regular season finale on Saturday vs. Lenoir Rhyne would give LMU third place as well as ensure they host a first-round match.
Xavier Marti and 
Constantin Ernstberger picked up the first win for LMU at no. 3 doubles with their 8-1 win. 
David Segarra and 
Joshua Peress then won 8-2 at no. 2, followed by 
Jake Tuchmann and 
Moritz Hoerner's 8-4 win at no. 1.
In singles, Marti won 6-0, 6-0 at no. 3, then Peress won by the same scores at no. 1 to clinch the match. Ernstberger won 6-0, 6-2 at no. 2 before the match went to pro sets. In those, 
Iker Tomas Moure won 8-2 at no. 5, Segarra was victorious by an 8-3 margin at no. 4, then Hoerner won 8-2 at no. 6 to close out the match.
LMU will close out the regular season Saturday vs. Lenoir-Rhyne. It will be senior day for 
Joshua Peress and 
Carlos Zunino.
