HARROGATE, Tenn. – The 33
rd ranked Railsplitters picked up the 8-1 win over Lenoir-Rhyne in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
This was the final regular season home match for seniors 
Joshua Peress and 
Carlos Zunino.
LMU moves to 12-6 overall and 7-3 in SAC play with the win. The win also means LMU finishes the regular season third in the South Atlantic Conference standings.
The Bears earned their only point of the match with their win at no. 1 doubles as LR's Hamed Gandouz and Shane O'Dea won over 
Jake Tuchmann and 
Moritz Hoerner 8-3.
David Segarra and Peress won at no. 2 by an 8-7 margin over Paul Lenz and Tomas Hons while at no. 3  
Xavier Marti and 
Constantin Ernstberger won over Alex Crispo Sanchez and Tales Miranda 8-4.
In singles, Peress picked up his 63
rd career win with the 6-2, 6-4 win over Miranda at no. 1, while at no. 2 Ernstberger defeated O'Dea 6-1, 6-4.
At no. 3, Marti won over Hons 7-5, 6-1, and the match at the no. 4 flight went to three sets before Segarra bested Alex Ayguavives 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.
Flight's 5 and 6 were played with pro set scoring. At no. 5, 
Iker Tomas Moure defeated Lenz 8-7 (7-5) while at no. 6  Zunino defeated William Hewett 8-3.
LMU will host a quarterfinal round matchup of the SAC Tournament Wednesday afternoon. The opponent will not be known until the conference releases the bracket later tonight.
