HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU men's tennis team dropped the doubles point but won five of the six flights in singles to defeat Emmanuel 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
Emmanuel won at no. 1 and 2 doubles to take the team point. At no. 3,
Iker Moure and
Moritz Hoerner won over Juan Burgos and Thembokwakhe Makhanya 6-4.
The Railsplitters then took singles flights 1-5 to pull out the 5-2 match victory.
Xavier Marti defeated Juan Carlos Romero at no. 1 6-3, 6-2 while at no. 2
David Segarra won over Makhanya 6-2, 6-1. Moure outlasted Kornel Kimagzweski 6-2, 6-4 at no. 3 and
Sebastian Colla took the 6-1, 6-2 win over Lucas Sasaki in his LMU debut. Hoerner then defeated Burgos 6-4, 6-4 to seal the team's first win of the season.
The team will now prepare for the ITA Southeast Regionals, which will be held September 27-30 in Sumter, South Carolina.
