Catawba Holds Off LMU with Late Header for Railsplitter Setback

Indians score in the 85th minute to take 1-0 victory at the LMU Soccer Complex

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team hosted Catawba College in conference play at the LMU Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
A combined total of 12 shots and six saves throughout the first half competition kept an even contest at 0-0 heading into the halftime for the Railsplitters against Catawba.
 
Shots continued to exchange between both teams totaling another dozen in the second half of action. In the 85th minute, Indians' Borja Gaspar headed a ball successfully with an assist from Sam Henneberg off of a corner kick to take a 1-0 lead, leading to a setback for the Railsplitters.
 
TEAM STATS:
The Railsplitters were even with the Indians in shots (12-12) and trailed closely in shots on goal (4-5) and corner kicks (5-6) throughout the contest.
 
THE KEEPERS:
CAT – Luc Denisselle steered away all four shots faced on the afternoon for the shutout.
LMU – Robin Hermann tallied four saves throughout 90 minutes with one goal against.
 
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
After today's setback, the Railsplitters maintain a 13-3 all-time head-to-head record against the Catawba College Indians dating back to October of 2007.

The Railsplitters will look to travel to Greenville, Tennessee for another conference match at Tusculum University at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
