HARROGATE, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team hosted University of Alabama-Huntsville on Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The visiting Chargers got on the board first when Rafa Moreno received a ball from Gunner Potts to take a 1-0 lead at the 39th-minute mark.
The Railsplitters came back in the second half of action when senior defender
Alan Brandao played a long-ball down the field to sophomore midfielder
Danilo Seglio who ended up passing by the goalkeeper to score and even the score 1-1 (56').
OVERTIME:
The contest was approaching the end of the first overtime period until there was a yellow-card violation called in the 99th minute of play. Rafa Moreno of Alabama-Huntsville scored off of the penalty kick to conclude the game at 2-1 in overtime.
TEAM STATS:
The Railsplitters were nipped by the Chargers closely in team opportunities on the afternoon in shots (10-14), shots on goal (4-8) and corner kicks (2-3).
THE KEEPERS:
UAH – Drew Kelly had one goal against and three saves on the afternoon.
LMU –
Robin Hermann had two goals against and notched six saves in just under 100 minutes of action.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
After today's overtime setback, the Railsplitters maintain a 5-2 record in head-to-head action against University of Alabama-Huntsville.
