MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team traveled to Mylan Park for a non-conference matchup against Salem University on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Senior forward
Ueslei Silva was able to notch the first goal of the game in the 24th minute of play off of a penalty-kick opportunity for the Railsplitters after a foul from Lion goalkeeper Luis Ramirez.
Salem University was able to get a pair of shots off on LMU before Andrea Morelli found the back of the net in the 42nd minute to tie the game at 1-1.
In five minutes of being back on the pitch, the Lions were able to strike successfully again when Mark Ferenczi-Bako was able to extend the lead to 2-1, ultimately leading to the victory.
TEAM STATS:
The Railsplitters were even with the Lions in shots (9-9) but trailed in shots on goal (1-5). LMU led the way in corner kicks (5-2) throughout the contest on Tuesday.
THE KEEPERS:
SU – Ramirez had one goal against throughout the 90 minutes of play on Tuesday.
LMU –
Jackson Jalovec had two goals against and three saves in his second career start for the Railsplitters.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
After today's setback, the Railsplitters maintain a 2-1 all-time head-to-head record against the Lions of Salem University dating back to August of 2007.
