Railsplitters look to record victory over the Bulldogs after regular season stalemate

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer team looks to begin their second season in the SAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Wingate University.

OVERVIEW:
The Railsplitters finished their regular season with a 6-7-3 mark to claim the sixth seed in the upcoming post-season conference tournament. The Blue and Gray recorded a 4-1 record against conference opponents at the LMU Soccer Complex this fall.

After all the battles on the pitch this season, the Railsplitters notched a chance to compete in the conference tournament by traveling to third-seeded Wingate University Bulldogs for a contest scheduled for a 4 p.m. start on Saturday, Nov. 9.

HISTORY:
The most recent meeting between the Railsplitters and Bulldogs was on Sept. 28 in Wingate that resulted in a 0-0 double-overtime stalemate.

LMU is 0-1-1 against the Bulldogs in the last two conference tournament meetings. In November of 2017, the Blue and Gray were handed a 3-0 defeat in Rock Hill, South Carolina in the semifinal match against Wingate.

In a 2015 semifinal meeting, the Railsplitters and Bulldogs went scoreless throughout the entirety of the regulation and overtime periods, leading to Wingate advancing to the conference championship after the victory in penalty kick shootouts.

Currently, LMU holds an all-time head-to-head record of 3-10-2 against Wingate dating back October of 2007.

MOVING FORWARD:
A victory on Saturday against Wingate University will lead to the Railsplitters to the semifinal round against the winner of the second-seeded Queens University of Charlotte Royals and seventh-seeded Newberry College Wolves.
