HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's basketball team just could not get the shots to fall when needed Wednesday evening against Lenoir-Rhyne, shooting a season low 30.3 percent from the field as they fell to the Bears 72-62.
The loss snaps a three-game win streak and drops the Lady Railsplitters to 4-4 overall on the season and 3-2 in the South Atlantic Conference. Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 3-7 and 1-4 in SAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Lady
Railsplitters came out ice cold, shooting 4-12 in the first quarter and 7-24 for the half.
• Free throws kept LMU in the game in the first half as they went 10-13 from the charity stripe during that stretch.
• The Bears shot 50 percent in the first quarter and went out to the 17-9 lead after the frame.
• LMU would cut the lead to eight, 33-25, just before halftime, but L-R extended the lead to 17 by the end of the third quarter.
• The Lady Railsplitters would outscore the Bears 26-19 in the fourth quarter but were unable to overcome the deficit.
KEY PLAYERS/STATS
•
Lauren Flowers led LMU with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists.
•
Shermeria Quarles had 11 points and nine rebounds.
•
Kyndall Caudle chipped in 10 points and three steals.
• L-R had five players score in double figures, led by Kiara Moore's and nine rebounds. Karlie Bearden chipped in with a double-double as she had 14 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks.
• For the game, LMU shot 30.2 percent from the field, 21.4 percent from behind the arc, and 70.0 percent from the charity stripe.
• LRU shot 47.3 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three-point range, and 69.6 percent from the free throw line.
• The Bears outrebounded LMU 43-39.
• Lenoir-Rhyne outscored LMU in the paint 34-28, but LMU had the 15-13 advantage in second chance points.
