ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lincoln Memorial men's lacrosse team came charging in the fourth quarter but ultimately could not overcome an early 5-0 deficit in a 12-8 loss at Maryville on a cold and snowy Monday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo.
The Saints (4-1) scored five goals in the first 7:40 of the match to jump all over the Railsplitters (2-2), establishing a commanding 7-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Maryville maintained a firm grip on the lead throughout the next two quarters and took a comfortable 10-4 advantage into the fourth.
Facing a six-goal deficit with 15 minutes to play, Lincoln Memorial refused to go quietly, opening the fourth quarter with a 4-0 run to chop the deficit all the way down to 10-8. However, the Saints kept the Railsplitters off the board for the final 6:30 and tallied twice in the last 3:13 to secure the 12-8 victory.

Kyle Arcuri and
Ian Cook powered the Railsplitters' offensive output with two goals and an assist apiece. Tucker paced Lincoln Memorial in shots with eight and also matched
Hunter Clark for the team-high mark in ground ball recoveries with six.
Chris Tucker added a goal and an assist, while
Chad Walters also contributed a goal.
Lincoln Memorial was outshot 36-27, but did finish with a 22-20 edge in terms of shots on goal. The Railsplitters landed all eight of their fourth-quarter shot attempts on goal.
Seven different players notched at least one goal for Maryville. Lucas Shafer led that effort with a sensational seven-point performance that included four goals and three assists. Jayden Fraser chipped in with two goals and two assists.
Trenton Cameron made eight saves for the Railsplitters. Clark led the way for Lincoln Memorial at the face-off x by going 12-for-19, while
Kameron Andrews finished 3-for-4. That duo helped LMU win five of the seven face-offs in the fourth quarter.
