HARROGATE, Tenn. – A hard-fought South Atlantic Conference match between LMU and Carson-Newman came down to a tie-breaker set, and in the end the Lady Eagles prevailed as the defeated LMU 4-3 Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
C-N took all three doubles flights to claim the point as the one and two spots both resulted in 6-1 decisions for the visitors. At the third spot
Kiersten Waugh and
Amanda Dahlstrom went to a tiebreaker point before falling to Alisa Liashova and Klara Vuckovic 7-6.
The Lady Eagles claimed the point at the no. 1 singles flight, but
Julia Loos picked up the 7-6 (5), 6-2 win over Hannah Price at no. 2 to improve to 10-3 on the season and 2-0 in SAC play and also cut the C-N lead to 2-1.
C-N won another point with their win at the fifth spot, and at the fourth spot they took the match point as Ali Harris defeated LMU's
Julia Valls in a tiebreaker set 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (4). LMU would pick up wins at the fourth spot as
Kristin Vogel defeated Lisashova 6-4, 6-4 to remain undefeated in SAC play and at no. 6 where Dahlstrom bested Vuckovic 6-3, 6-2 and also remained undefeated against conference opposition.
LMU (7-4, 1-1 SAC) travels to Lenoir-Rhyne for a Saturday morning SAC matchup with the Bears.
