HARROGATE, Tenn. — The last stretch of the Lincoln Memorial University men's volleyball regular-season is upon us, and the Railsplitters will begin the five-match slate with a visit from the Hawks.

-After a week off from competition, LMU is back inside Mary Mars Gym where the Railsplitters are undefeated (8-0) and will look to extend that streak with their first victory over Quincy in three tries.
-The Railsplitters (11-7) are coming off a road-trip split, where they dropped a close match to the University of Mount Olive before taking it out on Lees-McRae the next day. Before those two matches, LMU took down Emmanuel in come-from-behind fashion powered by opposite
Evan Cory.
-Cory, who was named the Off the Block Independent Teams Player of the Week for consecutive weeks and the fifth time this season, had yet another dominating week. The junior led all players with his season-high 26 kills on a .512 attack percentage while contributing three aces and five blocks versus Emmanuel, and then he finished with a match-high 15 kills and seven digs in win at Lees-McRae.
-Despite a loss at Mount Olive, Cory recorded a season high in digs (16) as did
AJ Risavy with 12. Cory is still atop the nation in aces per set (0.646), good for second place, while he is second in points per set (5.39) and fifth in attacks per set (8.82).
-Fellow junior
Pedro Carvalho, who is second in the nation with 1.411 blocks per set, had himself a great weekend, too, to be tabbed as the Off the Block National Middle Attacker of the Week. He combined for 27 kills on a .571 attack percentage in those three matches, including a season-high 13 kills while hitting .750 versus Lees-McRae. Carvalho also had six blocks against Emmanuel and five more in the loss to Mount Olive.
-On the season, the Railsplitters have 801 kills, averaging a .281 hitting percentage and 12.1 kills per set. Of the 745 assists, Risavy has 642 of them while Cory has 42 of the 131 service aces and 97 of the 551 digs, with Risavy right behind him with 10 less digs. Carvalho leads all players with 79 blocks while Cory has 64.
Know the Opponent
-The Hawks (5-15) will give King University a visit Friday night before the mid-afternoon first serve in Harrogate, where Quincy took down the Railsplitters, 3-1, actually two years ago from Saturday.
-Quincy also defeated LMU on its place, 2-3, last season and come into this matchup, having lost its last nine of 10 games with the likes of quality opponents such as Ohio State, McKendree University and Loyola University-Chicago.
-As a team, the Hawks have 769 kills — led by Omari Wheeler's 254 — on a .187 hitting percent, 729 assists and 86 service aces, along with 686 digs and 2.1 blocks per set.
-Adam Rogan paces his team with 354 of those assists, while Noam Hannoun has 211 digs and Blake Sprecher and Jacob Sheets have 59 and 43 blocks, respectively. Five Hawks have double-digit service aces, with Brendon Estrada (18) and Wheeler (16) leading the way.
