HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Railsplitter men's tennis team improved to 8-4 overall and 2-2 in South Atlantic Conference play with their 6-1 win over Mars Hill Tuesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
LMU picked up doubles wins from
Jake Tuchmann and
Moritz Hoerner, who defeated Fernando Neto and Kyrel Trim 6-1 at the second spot; and
Sebastian Colla and
David Segarra, who won at the third spot 6-1 over Pedro Pinassi and Tom Farman; to take the doubles point. Mars Hill won the first doubles spot 6-3.
In singles the Railsplitters took five of the six flights to claim the 6-1 victory. Tuchmann coasted to his seventh win of the season with his 6-0, 6-0 win over Farman at the fifth spot. Colla then cruised past Neto 6-3, 6-1 at the second spot and Segarra needed three sets to pick up career win number 57 with his 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Ben Reid at the first spot.
Hoerner then won at the second spot as Rodrigo Ramos retired while trailing 7-6, 3-0, and
Fabian Sjokvist then picked up LMU's sixth point of the day as he defeated Pinassi 6-1, 7-5 at the fourth spot. MHU's Trim then won at the sixth spot 6-4, 7-5 to give the Lions their sole point.
LMU travels to Anderson Thursday for a key SAC matchup with the Trojans. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
